N2 Injection Heater System
Design a circulation heater that can heat different nitrogen and hydrogen mixtures at different temperatures. As the gas mixture changes, the ability to transfer heat efficiently changes.
Nitrogen is a very stable gas, while hydrogen is a highly flammable gas with an autoignition point of 997°F and must be handled with care. Hydrogen is a concern in metallurgy because it embrittles many metals and complicates the design of piping and tanks.
Certain design features are key to ensuring the safety of this heater. The N2 Injection Heater System is designed for low watt density to keep the sheath temperature of the element below the autoignition point of the gas. In addition to the standard upper limit thermocouple (mounted on the element sheath), the heater is equipped with an ultra-high limit thermocouple (mounted on the heater flange). Additional safety is also added to the system by recommending a terminal block standoff to create an air gap between the heater flange and the terminal block with the customer's wires.
Hazardous gases in semiconductor fab exhaust lines can be explosive, corrosive, or pyrophoric unless diluted to safe levels with nitrogen. Adding a N2 Injection Heater System to the exhaust line of an abatement system can improve safety and uptime, ultimately increasing production.

Primary Applications
Dilution of hydrogenated gases in exhaust streams to levels below the lower explosive limit (LEL).
Dilution of pyrophoric gases to levels below the lower flammability levels.
Dilution of corrosive gases to lower levels of corrosion.
Aid to the heating of exhaust lines where the potential for deposition is high and external heat on the exhaust lines is not enough.
