Silicone Rubber Heating Tape

Silicone rubber heating tape is available in either wirewound or etched foil. Wirewound elements consist of a resistive wire wrapped around a fiberglass cord to provide support and stability. Etched foil heaters are made with a thin metal foil (.001") as the resistive element. Wirewound is recommended and preferred for small to medium batches, medium to large heaters, and to produce prototypes to prove design parameters before using etched foil for high volume production.

Silicone Rubber heaters with wire-wound elements provide excellent physical strength capable of withstanding repeated flexing without compromising the life and performance of the heater. They are also very effective for manufacturing geometrically challenged shapes, including three dimensional ones. The wire-wound process is recommended and preferred for small to medium size quantities, medium to large size heaters, and to produce prototypes to prove out the design parameters prior to entering into large volume production runs when using etched foil.

Our silicone heating elements are designed to achieve the customer's desired benefits and performance parameters. Silicone heaters can be designed as thin as 0.020 inches [0.5mm], can withstand 750 volts, and possess a watt density of 30 watts per square inch. This makes our heaters capable of rapid thermal recovery and optimum thermal distribution. These heaters can sustain a temperature range of -40° C to 200° C. This makes these heaters ideal for cryogenic and high-temperature applications. We can also design these heaters to be integrated with thermal switches, cut-offs, and sensors.
