The Hot n2 system is designed to provide a 100% dry environment. This is vital. Nitrogen is an inert gas and is used in processes where water contact with heated chemicals could cause an explosion. Moisture can easily accumulate inside the tank and there is an increased risk of the evaporated chemicals coming into contact with the water. The use of a nitrogen heater helps to eliminate this risk. To further increase safety, different enclosures are available. The control panel can be manufactured with a NEMA 7 marking (explosion proof). This helps to protect the process and equipment. Additionally, the installation of digital temperature monitors and alarms also increases safety.
The Purpose of Nitrogen Generation for Heat Treating
Nitrogen gas is used in heat treating processes to remove oxygen from furnaces and create an inert environment that eliminates oxidation and is conducive to creating high-quality products with excellent finishes.
To determine the appropriate nitrogen purity levels for each project, it's important to note the exact oxygen content that the furnace model and material that's being processed can safely tolerate. Heat treating requires a nitrogen purity rate ranging between 99% and 99.999% for optimal performance and to maintain safety standards. Oxygen can severely weaken and discolor the product.
Electric cycle heaters can be used for nitrogen heating applications. Electricity is more cost-effective and cheaper than fossil fuels to operate. They are also more efficient, able to reach the temperature faster, and lose less energy in the process.
